Drive axle design should meet the following basic requirements:
1. The selected final drive ratio should ensure optimal power and fuel economy for the vehicle.
2. Small overall dimensions while maintaining necessary ground clearance. This mainly refers to minimizing the size of the final drive.
3. Smooth operation and low noise from gears and other transmission components.
4. High transmission efficiency under various speeds and loads.
5. Minimal mass, especially unsprung mass, should be ensured while maintaining sufficient strength and rigidity to improve ride comfort.
6. Coordination with the suspension guiding mechanism; for steering drive axles, coordination with the steering mechanism is also necessary.
7. Simple structure, good manufacturability, easy manufacturing, and convenient disassembly, assembly, and adjustment.
