Applications Of Automotive Steering Knuckles

Apr 13, 2026

Steering drive shafts have wide applications in the automotive industry. Especially in front-engine, rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive vehicles, the relative position of the transmission or transfer case output shaft and the drive axle input shaft changes due to the elastic deformation of the suspension. Therefore, these vehicles commonly employ cross-shaft steering drive shafts to address this change. Ensuring the stability of power transmission is particularly important in these situations. Furthermore, in steering drive axles, the angle between the inner and outer half-shafts adjusts according to driving requirements, making constant velocity steering drive shafts especially crucial. Similarly, vehicles with independent rear axle suspension must also be equipped with steering drive shafts.
