After quenching, whether water-quenched or oil-quenched, the results are ideal. Furthermore, this material has good machinability, achieving a relative machinability of 60% at moderate hardness, making it particularly suitable for manufacturing medium-sized plastic molds. However, 40Cr steel, as a material for automotive half-shafts, is prone to surface defects, thus requiring surface treatment to improve its surface quality and service life. When selecting automotive half-shaft materials, factors such as strength, rigidity, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and cost must be comprehensively considered to ensure an optimal balance between vehicle performance and economic benefits.
