The choice of material for bearing sleeves significantly impacts their performance and service life. Common materials include:

 

1. Steel: Steel bearing sleeves offer high strength and hardness, making them suitable for high-load and high-speed applications. Common steel grades include carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel. Stainless steel bearing sleeves also offer good corrosion resistance, making them suitable for humid or corrosive environments.

 

2. Cast Iron: Cast iron bearing sleeves are relatively inexpensive and offer good wear resistance and shock absorption, making them suitable for medium-load and low-speed applications. However, cast iron has poor toughness and is prone to cracking under impact loads.

 

3. Copper Alloys: Copper alloy bearing sleeves offer good thermal conductivity and wear resistance, making them suitable for high-temperature or high-friction applications. Common copper alloys include bronze and brass, which also possess some self-lubricating properties.

 

4. Engineering Plastics: In some specialized applications, such as food processing machinery or chemical equipment, bearing sleeves made of engineering plastics may be necessary. Engineering plastics offer advantages such as light weight, corrosion resistance, and a low coefficient of friction, but their strength and temperature resistance are generally inferior to metallic materials.
